Medical Enzyme Detergent
Surgical Instrument Cleaners

The four medical enzymes used for surgical instrument enzyme detergent cleaners have a specific function. The four medical enzymes can remove all forms of surgical bioburden that contaminate surgical instruments scopes, and utensils. Medical instrument enzyme cleaners are proteins produced by living organisms that act as catalysts to speed up chemical reactions that would otherwise occur at a much slower rate. The catalysts delivered with the medical enzyme cleaners help the surgical instrument cleaning process from a beginning to an end. The medical enzyme catalysts are not used up in the instrument cleaning treatment process and are available for multiple cleaning cycles.

Medical instrument cleaning solution enzymes fit their target bioburden substrates like a lock fits a key. The surgical instrument cleaning enzymes active site is open only to specific target substances (the surgical bioburden being cleaned. If the enzyme cleaner doesn't match the key (the type of bioburden), the enzymes can't enter and no cleaning reaction occurs. This makes the action of surgical instrument cleaning enzymes highly specific for their substrates. For this reason specific enzymes are needed for cleaning bioburden from surgical instruments. The four enzymes necessary for enzyme surgical instrument cleaners to be effective.

The medical instrument enzyme cleaners are: protease enzyme cleaners to break down proteins including blood, amylase enzyme cleaners to break down starch and catalyze the hydrolysis of starch, lipase enzyme cleaners to break down fats and high level lipids, and carbohydrase enzyme cleaners to break down high level starches. Enzyme detergent surgical instrument cleaners that do not offer these four enzymes cannot remove all forms of proteinaceous bioburden and will not be as effective for cleaning surgical instruments. When bioburden has been emulsified, i.e. during suction, the bioburden becomes more challenging to remove, particularly lipids and proteins. Highly concentrated protease enzyme cleaners and lipase enzyme cleaners are necessary for medical enzyme surgical instrument cleaners to be effective.
